Hi all.....a guest post from Christian here.
Just a quick update; 6% overall shrinkage to the multiple lung mets, but this
can be considered in the measurement error. The key is that there was
no continued growth. Previously, Dr. Rushing did not expect any
significant response until after cycle 4 of 6 (I have just
started cycle 3).
Also, with lung mets of this type of disease
(retroperitoneal Leiomyosarcoma), there can often be minimal "radiological
response"....in other words, the spots can still be present in size
according to the CAT scan, but inactive or dead. We are hopeful they go
away and future surgery on the lungs is not required.
Additionally, this latest scan was PET-CT, which shows a very slow glucose uptake, or low activity, so the doctor is pleased. The PET scan shows any activity from head to toe - I only had one other very small spot on the spine at the base of the neck, but the doc is not concerned. He gave me Zometa and said that the chemo should take care of it.
This is one of the few Stage 4 cancers that has the opportunity for a cure - odds are not great, but I am not a number, I am a winner......So continued prayers for effective treatment.
Heading the right direction - God is good.
